Land to the rear of South Street and Broad Street of approximately 3.5 hectares, as shown on Policies Map 9, is identified for the expansion of the town centre in a comprehensive manner to deliver a sustainable, high quality, mixed use development that includes:
(a) additional retail floorspace and additional leisure and community facilities;
(b) pedestrian and cycle linkages through the site to the town centre;
(c) additional car parking provision, together with secure cycle parking;
(d) comprehensive environmental enhancement, traffic management and service provision; and
(e) enhancing the area’s built heritage and the special character and appearance of the Conservation Area.
